Alternus Clean Energy is a utility-scale transatlantic clean energy power producer, listed on the NASDAQ. Headquartered in the US, Alternus develop, install, own and operate utility-scale solar parks in America and Europe. Alternus’ vision is to provide future generations with a cleaner, more sustainable world, thinking globally and acting locally. Alternus believe that economic, social and climate benefits are not mutually exclusive, and this informs their ESG and Sustainability Strategy.
Working with Sustainabil-IT, Alternus’ sustainability team headed by Chief Sustainability Officer Gita Shah, undertook an assessment of their current sustainability maturity rating, set 12-month targets and leveraging the Digitopia Impact platform to benchmark the organisation and prioritise their sustainability initiatives and roadmap for the coming twelve months. The strategy and roadmap were delivered in a structured set of sessions, measuring sustainability holistically across six dimensions – Ambition, Capacity, Culture, Engagement, Governance and Operations. While the exercise generated 30 recommendations of what the organisation could undertake, a “Top 10” set of initiatives were prioritised for the coming 12 months, which will be reviewed in the platform on a regular basis to allow for new opportunities or requirements.
The Digitopia Impact platform provided a highly effective methodology for measuring our current sustainability maturity. It validated, refined and clarified our current approach, enabling us to set targets and prioritise key initiatives for 2025, taking into consideration CSRD and CSDDD legislation, our long-term goals as an organisation and aligning our C-Suite.
One key differentiator of the Digitopia platform is that it delivers a “living strategy”, allowing us to regularly update our sustainability roadmap in an agile manner”.
